From STEM to the Stage, Wake Forest Has It All This Season

The Town of Wake Forest is thrilled to present a variety of exciting events over the coming months to usher out “Old Man Winter” and usher in joy, energy, and excitement. From Friday Night on White and STEM Saturday to Six Sundays in Spring and Family Movie Nights at Joyner Park, there’s no shortage of fun, family-friendly activities on the horizon.

Friday Night on White

Get ready to party as Friday Night on White (FNOW) returns to S. White St. in historic Downtown Wake Forest on April 11 with Love Tribe. Our 2025 series continues May 9 with Sleeping Booty Band, June 13 with Bounce! Party Band, July 11 with The Band Punch, August 8 with The Brickhouse Band, and September 12 with Liquid Pleasure. The concerts get underway at 6:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM. While you’re enjoying the music, be sure to visit sponsor exhibits and enjoy delicious food at Downtown’s outstanding array of dining establishments or from several food trucks that will be onsite. STEM Saturday

Elementary, middle, and high school students and their parents are invited to Wake Forest’s STEM Saturday on April 12. Presented by the Wake Forest Wireless Research Center, this free family event is scheduled from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Joyner Park Community Center (701 Harris Road). Designed to expose students to a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math career options, STEM Saturday will feature STEM-related exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities. FOREST FEST

Join us along Festival St. (Owen Ave.) and Brooks St. in Downtown Wake Forest on Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, for the fourth annual Forest Fest. Presented by Wake Forest Downtown, Inc., this fun-filled event will feature entertainment, a tree seedling giveaway, educational opportunities, children’s activities, vendors, food trucks, and much more. This family-friendly event celebrates the outdoors and the heart of Wake Forest.

Six Sundays in Spring

Join us at Joyner Park for an unforgettable concert series filled with music, fun, and laughter during this year’s Six Sundays in Spring. Perfect for music lovers of all kinds, our free outdoor concerts are scheduled from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM on consecutive Sundays from April 27 to June 1. Family Movie Nights at Joyner Park

The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is delighted to host Family Movie Nights at Joyner Park on the following Saturdays: May 24 (Monsters, Inc.), June 14 (Moana 2), July 19 (Mufasa – The Lion King), and August 2 (Transformers One). Showtime is approximately 8:30 PM and admission is free. Movie-related pre-show activities will begin at 7:30 PM and onsite food vendors will be selling snacks and beverages. National Trails Day

The PRCR Advisory Board will host National Trails Day on Sat-urday, June 7, at Joyner Park. Presented by Skylift Garage Doors, this family-friendly event will include a timed 5K/3K walk/run race for children and adults. Check-in on the day of the event starts at 7:00 AM, and the race begins at 8:00 AM. Funds raised through entry fees will be used to support the maintenance of current greenways and the development of new greenways throughout Wake Forest. Registration is required. “Summer at the Centre”

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre (405 S. Brooks St.), is excited to announce the return of the “Summer at the Centre” Performance Series. Tickets are expected to sell out fast, so don’t miss your opportunity to join us for some of the hottest shows around.

On Saturday, June 21, at 7:30 PM, they welcome The Embers, featuring Craig Woolard. This award-winning band put beach music on the map, so bring your dancing shoes and get ready for a night to remember. Next up, they are pleased to present the Chairmen of the Board on Saturday, July 19, at 7:30 PM. This amazing band has thrilled music lovers for over 30 years and is always a crowd favorite.

The Renaissance Centre will end their “Summer at the Centre” series on Saturday, August 23, with the “Cruisin’ for Clues” Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. Welcome aboard the U.S.S. Mystery of the Sea, the premier cruise line for those who seek adventure. Beware of scandal, revenge, and of course, murder! Due to the popularity of their Murder Mystery Dinners, they have scheduled shows at noon and 6:30 PM.

Tickets for the 2025 Performance Series go on sale to the public Wednesday, May 7, at 10:00 AM. How do you get the best seats in the house? Glad you asked! Become a “Friend of the Centre” with a $125 tax-deductible donation, and you can purchase up to four tickets before they go on sale to the public. In addition, your name will be displayed as a member of the “Friends of the Centre” on the Renaissance Centre website and stage screen prior to their Main Stage Performances.
